Cooling in the heat – monoblocs for demanding conditions (-20/+43°C)

The output of any refrigeration system falls as the ambient temperature around the condenser rises. On hot days or in hot plant rooms a standard monobloc may not cope. That is why versions for demanding conditions exist.

Why does heat reduce output?

A monobloc rejects heat from the room into the surroundings through the condenser. The warmer the surroundings, the harder that heat is to shed – the compressor works harder and the real cooling capacity drops. In extreme conditions a unit sized with no margin stops holding the temperature.

What sets the demanding-conditions versions apart?

Monoblocs designed to operate in the -20°C / +43°C range have components and a condenser design chosen to hold output even at high ambient temperatures. It is the solution for places where standard units fall short.

  • warehouses and halls without air conditioning that heat up in summer,
  • plant rooms with a high heat load,
  • transport bodies and chambers exposed to direct sunlight,
  • buildings in warmer climates or with limited ventilation.

When are they worth considering?

If the unit's condenser sits somewhere that regularly exceeds 32–35°C in summer, a demanding-conditions version is worth considering. We will size it so the cold chain stays fully reliable all year round.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know I need a demanding-conditions version?

If the area around the condenser regularly exceeds 32–35°C in summer (halls without air conditioning, hot plant rooms, bodies standing in the sun), a standard system may not cope – that is when a demanding-conditions version is called for.

Does such a monobloc use more energy?

It is engineered for output at high ambient temperatures. In normal conditions it runs efficiently, and in the heat it holds the temperature where an ordinary system would fail.

Do demanding-conditions versions also run on R290?

Yes, they use the natural refrigerant R290, combining resistance to high ambient temperatures with environmental performance and no F-gases.
