Waterloop system

Waterloop — recover heat and warm your domestic water

Home » Waterloop

An innovative solution for retail chains and sites with many refrigeration units. Instead of releasing waste heat into the surroundings, AiCool monoblocks in the Waterloop version carry it away through a closed water loop — outside the building or into recovery, for example to heat domestic hot water.

How does Waterloop work?

  1. 1

    Water condensing instead of air

Instead of an air condenser, the monoblock uses a water condenser with condensing-pressure control valves. Heat from the compressor goes into the water/glycol circuit, not into the room.

  2. 2

    Closed water loop (glycol)

All units on site share a common circuit. The secondary medium (glycol water) carries the heat outside the building through a dry cooler, or directs it into recovery.

  3. 3

Heat recovery for domestic hot water

Recovered heat warms domestic water (for example in back-of-house, catering or car washes). This is free energy that a classic system would simply waste.

Why Waterloop

Benefits of the Waterloop system

Waste heat recovery

Heat from the refrigeration circuit warms domestic hot water — real savings on water heating all year round.

Lower air-conditioning costs

Heat does not reach the sales floor, so the cost of cooling and air conditioning the retail space drops significantly.

Quieter and greener operation

No air condensers next to the units means less noise in the room. Natural R290 refrigerant — no F-gases and no register obligations.

Modular plug & play installation

Each monoblock connects to the shared water circuit — fast installation, easy expansion and servicing by module replacement.

Heat Recovery System

Plate condensers — efficient recovery and optimal use of energy

Waterloop refrigeration systems are designed so that heat recovered from the cooling process can be used to heat domestic hot water or support space heating. This increases the energy efficiency of the building and supports HACCP compliance.

  • Water-cooled plate condenser and condensing-pressure control valves.
  • Thermostatic expansion valve and hermetic compressor.
  • Condensate evaporation system (hot gas) — AISI-316 stainless steel coil.
  • Can work in installations with flow-balancing valves; shut-off valves available as an option.
  • Automatic hot gas defrost.

Solutions that extend Waterloop

The Waterloop water circuit can be extended with intelligent heat management and adapted to difficult installation conditions.

AiCool monoblock with hybrid condensing system (HYBRID) — water IN/OUT connections

New — hybrid mode

Hybrid condensing system (HYBRID)

A „one unit” design combining two ways of rejecting heat: an air condenser and a water-cooled plate condenser (Waterloop, glycol) — with switching between modes. The system adapts to the season, ambient conditions and the site's energy management strategy.

  • Heating mode (winter): 100% of the waste heat from the water loop goes into the building systems — heating the sales area, back-of-house or domestic hot water.
  • Summer mode (air): recovery can be switched off and heat rejected outside — without overheating the interior.
  • Up to 30% higher energy efficiency compared with conventional refrigeration systems.
  • BMS integration — central monitoring and control; simpler and cheaper installation than a system with an external condensing unit.

Installation in difficult conditions

Side air discharge

An engineering solution designed for installing monoblocks where space is limited and ventilation insufficient. Warm air is effectively carried away from the unit's working area.

  • Effective removal of warm air from the monoblock's working area — or redirection to rooms that need heating (warehouses, staff facilities, work zones).
  • Prevents temperature rise in the immediate surroundings of the unit — more stable operation and fewer failures.
  • Complete system components: in-line duct fan, control damper (with or without actuator), discharge duct and thermostat.
  • A wall-mounted version of the monoblock with side air discharge is also available to order.

Who is it for?

Waterloop proves its worth wherever many refrigeration units work on one site and heat management matters:

  • Supermarkets and retail chains (cold rooms, shelving and display cases on one circuit).
  • Catering venues and hotels with high demand for hot water.
  • Warehouses and logistics centres with many chiller and freezer cold rooms.
  • Buildings where low noise levels and energy certification (ESG) matter.
